Jut&Jul is a 12 weeks long collaboration of fashion designers, photographers and graphic designers researching the influences of context to personal identity. Newly immigrated to Berlin, the skin-colored clothes of Jut&Jul functioned as a canvas for new influences and inspiration. After Jut&Jul returning home from Berlin, a list of inspirational items and a bag full of materials was left behind. The leftovers were documented and organised in 3 folders. ‘Recovered items’, ‘Reported items’ and ‘Photographs’ together create ‘Jut & Jul & a possible book’. In the Jut&Jul brand the labelling-system for the clothes adapts everything that Jut&Jul encountered, creating an accumulative list of inspiration. All of the leftovers documented in the folders were paired with its listed inspiration item on the labels. The list of inspiration functions as a tagging system on the Jut&Jul website and pairs leftover items to its inspirational core. Together, the story of Jut&Jul unfolds into a kaleidoscopic story of possibilities. The identity of Jut&Jul becomes the interpretation of what happened to Jut&Jul. Context creates identity.
